Questions?

CAN WE ATTEND SOME MEETINGS / ACTIVITES BEFORE JOINING?

Absolutely! We encourage all perspective Cub Scouts to be apart of our meetings and outdoor activities and experience the excitement and fun it is to be a Cub Scout prior to joining.

DO YOU HOST ANY FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO HELP OFF SET THE COST OF SCOUTING?

Yes we do! We typically have 2 or 3 fundraising opportunities available to the scouts each year, traditionally in the past we have sold Popcorn during August & September. More recently we have seen a growing success in selling Beef Jerky.

Each Scout earns a % of each sale, creating a dedicated spending account for any of their personal scouting needs. Scouts can, with a little dedication and time, can completely fund all of their scouting adventures; Annual Registration, Uniforms, Camp, Actives, or even equipment for camping.

WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE PACK & DENS?

Cub Scouting is entirely run by volunteers, including a Pack Committee, Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, and Den Leaders. All leaders are provided training by the BSA that covers both how to fulfill the duties of their position and youth protection training. Additionally All Leaders are finger printed and must pass a background check to qualify.

Interested in helping? We can not do it alone. New volunteers are extremely important to keep the Pack running smoothly. If you are wanting to be more involved in your child's scouting program or leadership we would be happy to have you!

WE ARE NOT RELIGIOUS, CAN WE STILL JOIN?

As a non-sectarian organization, each scouting family's traditions and beliefs should be defined in their own way. Scouts of all walks of life are welcome to become part of Pack 5, even those without any religious affiliation. Pack 5 is chartered by the Riverside Sunrise Rotary Club and not affiliated with any religious order.

Each rank does includes a religious/spiritual component that can be completed by the family at home. They are generally designed to encourage conversations within families around their family’s values, whatever those may be, and service to others.

HOW ACTIVE DO WE NEED TO BE?

We know that kids/families are really busy today, there is no mandatory attendance, however the more the activities they can participate in the more they will learn and grow.

It’s encouraged that each scout attend our bi-monthly den meetings to assist the scout on earning their rank advancement in a timely manor.

Additionally we try to schedule 1-2 other fun activities/events each month. Pack meetings and events are important (and often help with advancement too), but you don’t need to attend every single one if you have conflicts with other activities, sports, events, etc. But we do hope that most scouts will become members of our community and will want to attend as much as possible.
